Episode 05 "A Very Braidy Podcast"

J's back! And what does that mean? It means we get to discuss potato chips and beer. Oh, and some video games too, I suppose.

Newsflash: J LOVES POINTS. Tune in to hear him talk about his misadventures with Avatar: The Last Airbender and Madden 06.

Though we've played a few demos and some Geometry Wars 2, this week is really all about Braid. With about 40 minutes of the podcast dedicated to one game, we discuss both gameplay and narrative. Don't want spoilers because you're going to play Braid soon? That's okay! We give fair warning in the course of the podcast for when we're going to discuss potential spoilers for the rest of the show.

Official Club Games

Though we try to introduce as wide a variety of titles to our members, sometimes you just can't help but go with what you know and love.

Pac-Man VS
Multiplayer Pac-Man? Yes, it's as great as it sounds. With 3 controllers and 1 GBA hooked up to a Gamecube, players take on the roles of Pac-Man and the ghosts who chase him down. Don't give into the dark side (aka, fruit camping) and remember, give it to Pink 'cause she's got a bad back.

Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen!! 4
The long, strange-sounding name gives the game away as only available in Japan... but it's worth the import. Up to 4 players beat the living daylights out of each other using ridiculous awesome jutsu, wily ninja tactics, and baffle opponents with the opportune tagging in of diversionary logs.

Guitar Hero 2
As if any gaming club worth its salt doesn't play this game religiously... Do I really need to waste my time explaining this cultural phenomenon? No? Good.

Nintendo DS
This is the point where you stand up and exclaim, "Silly webmaster, that's not a game!" And I'd agree with you. However, it's worth noting that the DS is the handheld of choice for wireless gaming at meetings. While the club membership is pretty much console agnostic and will play any fun game on any platform, you're almost guaranteed an epic battle in Advance Wars DS or some sort of Pokemon trading at every club gathering.
